A Case Study of Mental Health Occupational Therapy Focusing on the Role Performance of the Mentally Disabled

Abstract
Objective : This study is to present basic data by verifying the effectiveness of the role performance intervention program through the case of providing the role performance intervention program mental occupational therapy to the mentally disabled in the local community.

Methods : The subject was a 44-year-old woman who received psychiatric diagnosis was evaluated for role performance by Role Performance Measure (RPM), life satisfaction was evaluated by Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS), and depression symptoms were evaluated by Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ- 9) was evaluated. The intervention period was from August 28th, 2021 to November 18th, 2021, and was conducted for a total of 6 times. The program conducted a cooking activity for the role of Self-caregiver and an activity for learning how play on a computer to fulfill the Worker role.

Results : After the intervention, they showed satisfaction and confidence in their role performance. The life satisfaction evaluation score increased from 11 points to 32 points, and the evaluation score for depressive
symptoms decreased from 24 points to 12 points.

Conclusion : As a result of this study, it was found that the role performance intervention program had a positive effect on the mentally disabled.
